Summer Getaway – Camping and Caravanning Club Magazine
Are you planning a holiday or short break in England, or planning to go to one of the events taking place as part of the Olympic or Paralympic Games this summer? If so, then it's a good idea to give some thought to your journey.
The Camping and Caravanning Club is supporting an awareness initiative by the Highways Agency which encourages drivers to be prepared and help themselves to avoid unnecessary delays where they can.
The holiday begins before the moment you close the front door, so put aside some time to plan your journey before you set off. Also remember that checking your vehicle is ready for the drive could make a difference to your holiday experience.
- Be informed - For easier journeys check traffic updates
- Be aware - Plan your journey
- Be prepared - Are you ready for your journey
- Be wise - Your safety matters
Whether you are going to the Games or not, you will need to be aware that some routes will be busier than usual while the Games are on. You can find out more about planning a journey on our roads during the Olympic and Paralympic Games on the Highways Agency website.
In addition, and to help prepare for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we have worked with the Highways Agency to publish ‘Advice for campers, caravanners and motorhome users planning to tour the UK around this time. This document can be viewed under the ‘Be Wise’ section of the Highways Agency website
