WiFi at Club Sites

WiFi on Hayfield
Your guide to wi-fi internet access on Club sites
What is Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is a radio signal that allows laptop computers and some mobile phones to connect to the internet without a wired connection. More and more devices use WiFi to connect to the internet, common examples are laptops and some mobile phones.
How to connect to Wi-Fi
First you need to connect to the Wi-Fi network by searching for a signal on your device. Once a Wi-Fi signal is obtained, you can then open a browser. This presents a login page where you can select to pay by credit card or by voucher for Site Wi-Fi. It is a good idea for you to check that you can get this landing page before purchasing a voucher from reception.
Logging In
To complete the login process you can buy a voucher from the site reception or use your credit or debit card for one of the three durations available that you intend to use. Once you have entered your details you will be allowed access to the internet to browse websites, chat on Skype, download music files, send and receive emails etc; and the clock is started. When the duration of time that has been purchased expires, the user cannot access the internet and will need to buy more access time.
Site Wi-Fi Coverage and Internet Speed
Site Wi-Fi coverage typically extends 50 to 100 meters from the antenna. Ideally line of sight is desired to provide the best possible signal. The speed of the internet connection is dependent upon the distance to the local BT exchange from the Site and the number of users trying to use the service at the same time. The environment has an impact on Wi-Fi coverage, such as
- Dense trees cause significant signal loss
- Water such as heavy rain, on the leaves of trees or exterior surfaces causes signal loss e.g. wet tent canvas
- Some tinted metalized windows / blinds stop the signal
Product Information
The Site Wi-Fi network is owned by The Club and will be powered by Wicoms Ltd. The service will provide internet access for campers with laptops and other Wi-Fi enabled devices from hotspots on the majority of Club Sites (88 Sites).
A hotspot is defined as a small area that gives wireless internet access. The Site team will advise where the hotspots are at each Club Site.

BT Openzone
BT Openzone is a WiFi network service that is provided using the same Wi-Fi router and antenna as Site WiFi. Customers with their own BT Openzone accounts can use the service to get online instead of the Site Wi-Fi service. Site Wi-Fi vouchers cannot be used on the BT Openzone network. BT Openzone vouchers will not be sold at sites. BT Openzone have their own support number 0800 022 33 22 and BT Openzone customers should only call this number for assistance.
How to get help
The helpdesk telephone number for problems getting Site Wi-Fi access is 01253 501 655. This number appears on the landing page and on the back of the voucher. Customers can call between the hours of 8:30am to 6.30pm everyday apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day to get assistance with connection to the internet.
