With its endless wide beaches, chic seaside resorts, picturesque fishing harbours, tranquil gardens and charming market towns it is not surprising that Vendée is one of France’s most popular holiday destinations.
The western Cȏte de Lumière (the Coast of Light) offers a great combination of relaxation and leisure activities. The area’s most famous attraction however, is always the beach.
This means miles and miles of golden sands that are perfect for swimming, diving, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, canoeing, horse riding or simply lazing in the sun.
Whatever you do, a holiday in the Vendée will really give you a chance to recharge your batteries.
This region of France is particularly well positioned for British visitors as it is a comfortable driving distance from the northern channel ports.
We have 15 Club selected sites and the majority of them are near to or on the coast. It is worth noting however, that our inland campsites are often quieter and have more spacious pitches. They are also ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and local towns. You will find space at a premium and site pitch size restricted on coastal sites.
La Chênaie is a friendly, well-kept and welcoming family site, set among trees and shrubs, with plenty of open space on site. Its countryside setting belies its proximity to the beaches and the much loved resort of Pornic.
Those who love the laidback atmosphere of a traditional campsite will find a very warm welcome at Le Bois Joli. This site is set just 12 miles in land which means the beach is nearby, but you’ll avoid the hustle and bustle of the coastal crowds. Very good quality site facilities include large pitches, a swimming pool and onsite entertainment.
Les Amiaux is a great family site with superb swimming pools and waterslides. It is also just a 15 minute walk down to the beach and cycle paths leading off from the site are a great way to explore the local area. A wide range of modern family facilities are available here.
La Parée Préneau is a well established site in an ideal location. It is near a number of popular beaches and although this is a smaller site, it has a great range of facilities. There’s an outdoor pool and a covered pool, and a great range of bars, restaurants and a children’s adventure park are close by.
With direct access to both the nearby coast and the Vendée countryside, La Trévillière offers the best of both worlds. We especially recommend bicycle hire (available onsite) so you can easily get down to the beach or explore local cycle paths. Quality on site facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools (with waterslides) and family entertainment.
If you’re looking for a modern, well equipped family site, then Le Bahamas Beach is perfect for you. As the name suggests the emphasis here is on having fun in the sun and in the water and the onsite pool (with waterslide and kid’s paddling pool) is one option, whilst the nearby beach (just a 15 minute footpath walk away) is another. The next-door village of Gilles-Croix-de-Vie has a wide range of shops and markets.
Le Pin Parasol is a superb lakeside campsite which is maintained to a very high standard. Here you are situated slightly inland allowing you to escape the crowds or drive or cycle down to the beach whenever you want to (the nearest beach is six miles away). The stunning swimming pool complex (indoor and outdoor options with waterslides and a paddling pool) is very much the site’s hub of activity. For the slightly more adventurous, canoe hire and archery is also available and even in high season this spacious site rarely feels crowded.
La Ferme du Latois is a relxing inland site with masses of space for everyone, from your pitch to the play areas and the surrounding countryside. Attractive facilities housed in the old farm buildings complement the lakes in the centre of the site where campers can enjoy fishing and boating.
Although the nearest sandy beach is just a 15 minutes drive from La Garangeoire, many visitors to this splendid site simply don’t feel the need to leave once they’ve settled in! That’s because everything you’d ever need is here. Set in the grounds of a charming château the central swimming pool complex is particularly impressive (and the once-a-week night-time pool sessions are very popular).
You can really splash out at Le Chaponnet. This site has a great swimming pool and waterslide complex and it’s near the beach (one mile). It’s located in Brem village centre and also ideally placed for exploring other local market towns and villages and the surrounding countryside.
With one of the best swimming pool complexes in the area and with the beach just a short walk or bike ride away, the site at La Loubine is a very popular holiday destination. The site is set in old farmland and the Vendée cycle route runs right alongside. In addition to the usual range of high quality facilities you’d expect, you can also hire bicycles and join diving classes in the outdoor pool. With so much to do, this site is great for families with teenagers.
A small site in a superb position, Le Petit Rocher is a short walk from one of the Vendées glorious, long, sandy beaches. The site, the beach and the little village strip between them offer all you need on a day-to-day basis, while local services and the rest of the main attractions are just a short drive away.
Domaine des Forges is next door to the traditional village of Avrillé and here you’ll find spacious pitches at one of the most picturesque and peaceful sites we know. There’s a great outdoor pool and a brand new stylish indoor pool and all the other high quality facilities you’d expect. And if you do want to visit the beach (you are in Vendée after all!) it’s just a short drive away.
The intimate but modern site at Bel is just a short walk away from the popular sea-side resort of La Tranche-Sur-Mer. This means easy access to the fabulous beaches and also the town’s nearby water park. Back on site, you’ll find a wide range of facilities (including a great swimming pool, paddling pool and whirlpool) and a large supermarket is nearby. Having everything so close to hand makes this a great site for families with younger children.
Well placed for sandy beaches (880 yards to the nearest) and ideal for exploring the southern Vendée, the site at Le Jard is perfect for all the family. The pool complex here includes indoor and outdoor options and other on site facilities include cycle hire and children’s activities.
